Jaime Rodríguez-Arana Muñoz

• He is Doctor of Law and professor of Administrative Law at the University of A Coruña, where he is also Director of the Department of Public Law of the Faculty of Law. He is a member of the International Academy of Comparative Law at The Hague, president of the Foro Iberoamericano de Derecho Administrativo (Latin American Forum of Administrative Law), president of the Academic Council of the law firm Cremades&Calvo-Sotelo and president of the Asociación Española de Ciencias Administrativas (Spanish Association of Administrative Sciences). He is doctor honoris causa of the Hispanic-American University of Nicaragua and honorary and guest lecturer at various European and American universities.
• He was a member of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration, Director of the EGAP (Galician School of Public Administration) and Director of the Canary Islands Institute of Public Administration. He was Director of the National Institute of Public Administration, member of the national parliament for the province of A Coruña in the 7th term, Under Secretary of Public Administration, Director of the journal Revista Gallega de Administración Pública. He was also President of the Ibero-American Institute of Public Administration Foundation, President of the Editorial Board of Administrative Documentation, President of the journal Gestión e Análisis de Políticas Públicas, Vice President of the Centro Europeo para la Formación de Estadísticos en los Países en Desarrollo, Spokesperson of the Scientific Council of the European Institute of Public Administration, on the Board of the International Latin American Foundation for Public Administrations and Public Policies, the Management Board of the Latin American Centre for Public Administration and Development, the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences, the Scientific Committee of the Iberoamerican Organisation of Intermunicipal Cooperation and President of the Galicia Forum for Social Studies.

Important Work:

• He is the author of books and monographs on Public Law, among which we can highlight: “La suspensión del acto administrativo” y “La prórroga de los contratos administrativos”. Ha dirigido el Manual de Derecho Administrativo Español editado por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He has directed the report edited by the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He has recently published the monograph on“El buen gobierno y la buena administración de instituciones públicas” and the book “Interés general, Derecho Administrativo y Estado de Bienestar”.

Other relevant data:

• He was awarded the “Decano Zárate y Penichez” prize by the Bar Association of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the “Decano Raimundo d’Adabal” prize by the Bar Association of Barcelona. In 2003, the Spanish Government awarded him the ‘Gran Cruz de Isabel la Católica’.
